Share & Voice: Environmental Kids Club

I found this good website for children to learn about how to become more eco-friendly.
I want to be a teacher when I go back to Finland and one thing that I want to teach to my class is how to save the environment. I think this website is great for children to read and learn about the environment.
Our environmental class has taught me a lot and it is actually my first class where I have learned about recycling and other things dealing with how to save the environment. I think it is important that children learn early enough about how to save the enviroment because then they will more likely to do the right things through out their lives.

Share & Voice: Green Hotels

Green Hotels and Environmentally Friendly Lodging

http://www.istaygreen.org/
I think this is a pretty cool website. You can search for hotels that are making efforts to be environmentally friendly. All the eco-friendly hotels are rated by how green they are. Next time you are planning on staying in a hotel, you should check out this website and support the hotels that are making efforts to be more eco-friendly.

Share & Voice: Eco-Friendly Clothing Options

This is a very interesting video and article about Sproutlings store in Duluth specializing in eco-friendly products for children. I think it is great that we have an eco-friendly clothing store in Duluth. Hopefully this kind of clothing store becomes more popular and more people start buying eco-friendly clothes.

Share & Voice: A Healthy Environment Starts at Home

I found this interesting website while I was looking for information about healthy environment.
It tells you about different household hazardous products and suggests the use of non-toxic alternatives whenever possible. It also tells you what you should do with the paints and solvents instead of just dumping them down the sink, pour down a storm drain, toss in the trash or pour on the ground because they are a hazard to the environment. The website gives you alternatives for how to properly discard automotive batteries and pesticides. This website is really usefull when you want to become more eco-friendly and take care of our environment.

Share & Voice: Help Protect The Ocean

I found this National Geographic website that talks about making the right seafood choices and it gives tips on how you can help save the ocean. I think it is a really good website for people who likes to eat seafood because it teaches about the impact your seafood choices make on your health and the ocean in this interactive guide.

Share & Voice: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

I found this interesting website when I was looking for information about our environment. On this website you can write your home town or zip code and it will tell you how much pollutans are in the air on that area. You can also find out the UV index, current conditions of ozone and other things related to the environment.

Share & Voice: Environmental Tips- How To Go Green

I found this little video from Youtube, called Environmental Tips- How To Go Green. It is short but it includes good information with how you can help save our environment. It talks about recycling, using reuseable bags, using your own coffee mug, and using your own water bottle. I grew up recycling almost everything and I am still doing it. However, I should really start using reuseable bags when I go to the grocery store. I have those bags at home but too many times I forget them and I need to ask for the plastic bag or paper bag. I don't buy water bottles from the store because I use my own water bottle.
These are small things, but if everyone would make better choices we would be able to save our environment.

Share & Voice: How a hurricane is born - The Science Of Superstorms - BBC

I found this interesting short video from youtube.com called How a hurricane is born - The Science Of Superstorms - BBC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4f45jA5UxB0
It tells about how hurricanes are born and how they travel and reach the United States. Hurricanes in the Atlantic typically begin in Sahara, Africa, and I think it is really interesting that something as small as someone playing with the sand can develope a hurricane.
It is an interesting video so check it out if you have time.

Share & Voice: Take care of your pet that green way

I really like this article named Take care of your pet that green way. It is on the Duluth News Tribune's website. You can read the article on online http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/178633/publisher_ID/36/
The article is about how pet owners can look for environmentally friendly options. A great idea was how pet owners can make the toys for their pets from old clothes or something else they might throw away. This article also discusses how owners should use biodegradable dogwaste bags which are eco-friendly.
Being that I have a dog, this article made me wonder would I buy the expensive toys when I could just make them myself. The article really opened my eyes to some new and different ways that I can be more eco-friendly when it comes to having pets.
